NSE Dividend Calendar 2026: Payout Dates & Book Closures
The NSE dividend calendar 2026 tracks every confirmed payout date, book closure deadline, and T+3 buy deadline for Nairobi Securities Exchange-listed companies — so you never miss a payout by a day.
⚠️ Still open — August 4, 2026: Safaricom’s final dividend book closure is the last major open window of the 2026 main cycle. The KES 1.15 final dividend pays September 4, 2026. Under T+3 settlement rules, your buy deadline is July 30, 2026 — 8 days away. After July 30, new buyers do not qualify. Jump to Safaricom details →
This tracker is updated as new corporate actions are announced. All dates reflect confirmed NSE and CDSC announcements. Verify final dates at nse.co.ke and cdsckenya.com before placing any trade.

The T+3 Rule — Read This Before Any Dividend Trade
The Nairobi Securities Exchange operates on a T+3 settlement cycle. This is the single biggest point of failure for investors new to dividend investing on the NSE.
When you place a buy order, the shares do not appear in your name on the CDSC register immediately. It takes the trade date plus three full business days for settlement. The practical implication:
- If the book closure is a Monday, your last safe buy day is the previous Wednesday
- Buying on Thursday means your shares settle on Tuesday — one day after the register has already closed
- You do not receive the dividend — regardless of how close you came
The operator’s rule: Always buy at least five business days before the stated book closure date. This creates a buffer for any processing delays, public holidays, or broker backlogs.
Three dates to track for every dividend:
| Date | What It Means | Your Action |
|---|---|---|
| Ex-dividend date | First day new buyers don’t qualify | Buy BEFORE this date |
| Book closure date | Share register locks | Must be settled by close of business |
| Payment date | Cash hits your account | Verify bank details are current |

H2 2026 NSE Dividend Calendar — What’s Still Coming
The main April–June 2026 dividend wave has passed. But the second half of 2026 brings a fresh set of opportunities — particularly for investors who missed the banking sector rush.
August 2026 — Safaricom (Most Urgent)
Safaricom book closure: August 4, 2026
This is the single most important remaining date on the 2026 NSE calendar. The KES 1.15 final dividend pays on September 4. At a current share price of approximately KES 30.60, this represents a yield of approximately 3.8% on the final dividend alone — or 6.5% on the full KES 2.00 annual dividend.
T+3 buy deadline: July 30, 2026. If you are reading this after July 30, the window for this cycle has closed. The next Safaricom opportunity will be the FY2027 interim dividend, expected around February 2027.
For the full Safaricom dividend analysis, earnings calculator, and buying guide, see our dedicated Safaricom Dividends 2026 Payout Date article.
August/September 2026 — KCB Interim
KCB Group is expected to announce its H1 FY2026 interim dividend following half-year results in August 2026. The FY2025 cycle saw KCB pay KES 7.00 total — the largest in its 130-year history. Watch nse.co.ke for the book closure announcement.
T+3 preparation: ensure your CDS account is active and funded before the announcement. Book closure dates for interim dividends are often announced with only 3–4 weeks’ notice.
September 2026 — EABL Final Dividend
East African Breweries’ financial year ends June 30. Full-year results are expected in July/August 2026, with the final dividend book closure typically falling in September. EABL paid a KES 4.00 interim in April — the final dividend amount will be confirmed with results.
September 2026 — NCBA Interim
NCBA Group follows a similar pattern to KCB. H1 FY2026 interim dividend expected with results around August, book closure approximately September 2026.
November 2026 — KenGen Annual Dividend
KenGen’s projected book closure date for the FY2026 annual dividend is November 26, 2026, per the NSE Corporate Events Forward Calendar. Audited results are expected in October 2026. The FY2025 dividend was KES 0.90 per share — the FY2026 amount will be confirmed with results.
November 2026 — Co-operative Bank Interim
Following COOP’s first-ever interim dividend in December 2025, the FY2026 interim is expected around November 2026 with a book closure in November and payment in December.
NSE Dividend Payout Date 2026 — The Taxation Framework
NSE dividend income is among the most tax-efficient investment returns available to Kenyan investors.
| Investment Vehicle | Withholding Tax on Income | Capital Gains Tax |
|---|---|---|
| NSE Dividends | 5% (final tax, deducted at source) | 0% |
| Bank Fixed Deposits | 15% | N/A |
| Treasury Bills | 15% | N/A |
| Infrastructure Bonds | 0% | N/A |
| Money Market Funds | 15% | N/A |
The 5% dividend withholding tax is deducted before the money reaches your account. No KRA filing is required for this income stream — it is a final tax. Any profit from selling NSE shares is currently 100% tax-free under Kenyan law.
For diaspora investors: If your KRA PIN is not correctly validated on your CDSC profile, the 15% non-resident withholding tax rate may be applied instead of the 5% resident rate. Verify your KRA PIN linkage with your stockbroker before the next book closure.
System Readiness: The Pre-Book-Close Checklist
Do not lose a dividend to administrative friction. Verify these four things before every book closure:
1. Active CDS account in your name Your CDSC account must be active and linked to your current KRA PIN. If you have not traded in over 12 months, your account may have been flagged as dormant. Verify with your broker.
2. Current bank account registered on CDSC This is the most common reason dividend payments fail. If you changed banks since opening your CDS account, update your bank mandate immediately — before the book closure, not after. Contact your licensed stockbroker or visit cdsckenya.com.
3. KRA PIN validated on CDSC Required for the correct 5% withholding tax rate to apply. Without it, you may be taxed at 15% as a non-resident.
4. Order placed before 2:30pm on your buy deadline The NSE closes at 3:00pm. Orders placed after 2:30pm risk rolling to the next trading day, shifting your T+3 settlement by one full day. Place buy orders mid-morning.
